So … you may be thinking … Why Lemon Cake Meadows?
Both of us really enjoy cooking – and one of Helen’s signature cake recipes is her Lemon Drizzle Cake! She vowed that if we were to ever get to run our own campsite that she would provide a cup of tea and a slice of her bestest cake for every guest as they arrived. So it all really started with our “Pitch Deck” to prospective investors, where we said, “A welcome pack for visitors is a given, yet with Helen’s legendary lemon drizzle cake included…it’s a Wow!”
A while later, when we visited the Camping & Caravan Exhibition at the NEC, Birmingham, we got talking with one of the exhibitors about our project plans and that we hadn’t found a field yet – and therefore didn’t really know what to call our campsite. He then remarked, “Why not call it Lemon Cake?” Whilst we all laughed at the time, we realised that it was a great idea of his. So we started to kick around some ideas – and finally came up with Lemon Cake Meadows … And here we are!

We are THE Team! We’ve both set up our own and worked in other SME’s for a lot of our working lives.
Pete writes,
“I started out in accountancy, then worked in tourism – first in our family small hotel (where I expanded my love of cooking) then later in a large holiday cottage letting agency, where I guided the firm’s transition from manual accounting and booking systems to being fully computerised. I also worked in music retailing for a time in my own record business – then moved to being company accountant + IT developer/controller for an international surf and leisure clothing company.
This role turned out to be my last as an ‘executive’ as I then took a quantum leap into the world of coaching and therapy. I’ve played a lot of sport over the years – particularly cricket and rugby – and I started coaching youth players in those sports as my son was growing up. Although that started as my “giving something back to the sport by encouraging the next generation” it eventually took me down a very exciting and rewarding road. was our cricket club’s groundsman for 4 years, a Level 2 cricket coach, first aider, Master Practitioner in Hypnotherapy, NLP + Time-Line Therapy.
Helen has run her own business in domestic cleaning and care provision in Coventry then SE Cornwall/W Devon. She’s a qualified nursery nurse and ran her own playgroup. Both bring a wealth of lifetime experience to the campsite dream!
